SEARCHING FOR OUR PLACE

The five panelled painting honours Polish migrants while also celebrating Polish ancestry and cultural roots. “Searching for Our Place” in essence expresses the story of gratitude by Poles to call Australia home. The artist states: “Whilst painting, thinking about my place, alongside a multitude of Polish migrants who whist honouring their Polish ancestry and cultural roots, are grateful to call Australia home.”

Basia Zielinska

Basia Zielinska (b. 1947 Leer) is a Sydney-based abstract artist of Polish heritage. Her body of work responds intuitively and emotionally to fragments of memories, as well as images of internal and external landscapes. Basia has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions, and in 2017 held her first solo exhibition at the ME Art Gallery. She was invited by the Polish Consulate in Sydney to exhibit her oeuvre. Basia has been a finalist and recipient of multiple Art Prizes, and her works can be found in many private collections internationally.
